“Rolan” 11th International Film Festival for Children and Young People

In 2015 from November 7 to November 11 “Rolan” International Film Festival for Children and Young People will commence in Yerevan, the regions of RA, Nagorno-Karabakh and Javaxq which is dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide. The festival is organized by the Armenian Rolan Bykov foundation, the President of RA, Ministry of Culture and Yerevan Municipality.
156 films from 44 countries of the world are included in the programme of the festival. The festival is expected to have more than 25000 audience (Yerevan, Nagorno-Karabakh, Javaxq). All the events and film-screenings will be held exclusively on charity basis.
This year another non-competitive nomination “Future Without Genocide” is added to the 7 traditional festival nominations. Here films not only about Armenian Genocide but also films referring to other nations massacres are included.
Since 2013 the nomination “I Have the Honour” has been established as a result of cooperation of Armenian “Rolan Bykov” foundation and Ministry of Defence of RA which aims to raise the military spirit.
The collaboration between Armenian “Rolan Bykov” foundation and Ministry of Defence of RA is continuing and becoming wider year by year. And if in 2014 only 5 military units participated in the festival (Goris, Sisian, Idjevan, Nubarashen, Vardenis), this year 3 more military units has joined (Tschambarak, Gyumri and Kapan).
Armenian “Rolan Bykov” foundation was the first organization who enlarging its borders in 2006 and the festival moved from Yerevan to the regions of RA. It pursued the goal to make cultural life prosperous and to create necessary conditions for children and youth living in regions. This year the traditional regional phase of the festival will be held in Shirak (Gyumri), Lori (Vanadzor, Alaverdi, Shnogh, Teghut), Gegharquniq (Gavar) and Tavush (Dilijan).
Since 2006 Armenian “Rolan Bykov” foundation has accomplished a number of projects (cultural, social, educational) in Nagorno-Karabakh. Keeping on their cooperation with the Ministry of Culture of Nagorno-Karabakh this year screenings of the best festival films will be organized on the preceding 40 days after the festival in all the regions of Nagorno-Karabakh.
This year for the first time the festival will organize film screenings also in Javaxq aiming to deepen Armenia–Javaxq cultural cooperation for future. One of the primary projects of the Armenian “Rolan Bykov” foundation is to strengthen Armenia-Diaspora cultural bridge making the Armenian communities an immediate part of the festival.
It is worth mentioning a charitable promotion “I will help!” carried out in the frames of the festival which aim is to help children from unprovided families living in near border villages of RA.
The audience of the festival can become a direct participant of the promotion bringing with them toys, children’s books or other useful things during 5 screening days in “Moscow” cinema.
After the end of the screenings the promotion will continue till 27th of November 2015. During this period all the donations can be brought to the office of “Rolan Bykov” foundation.
All individuals, State structures, foundations and other organizations who want to help children from unprovided families are welcome to join our promotion.

The opening ceremony of the festival – November 7 2015, 19:00, “Moscow” cinema Red Hall /The opening film of the festival will be British-French film “Paddington” /director Paul King/, where one of the leading roles belongs to worldwide famous actress Nicole Kidman/.
