In 2010, October 12-16, in Yerevan took place 6th International Film Festival for Children and Youth organized by Armenian “Rolan Bykov” Foundation with the support of the President of RA and Ministry of Culture of RA. After the Yerevan stage, for 40 days the festival continued in 5 regions of RA (Vanadzor, Alaverdi, Gavar, Byureghavan, Gyumri) where the best award winning films were screened, meetings took place in cultural houses, schools and orphanages. In the festival program 81 films from 27 countries were included. More than 12000 children from Yerevan and regions of RA participated in the festival. In the frames of the festival a project was implemented titled “KinoDialogue as Means of Strengthening the Practice of International Joint Creative Projects” supported by Open Society Foundations (Armenia), during which a lot of master-classes, creative meetings, premiere screenings, discussions were carried out with the participation of festival guests, Armenian directors, cameramen, producers and others. On October 14 was the premiere screening of Garri Bardin’s animated film “Ugly Duckling”, which followed the animator’s meeting with Armenian audience. For the first time in the frames of the 6th International Film Festival for Children and Youth, together with UNICEF-Armenia a new competition nomination named “I Have Rights” was presented. This nomination included both documentary and feature films concerning child rights. A children’s pictures exhibition named “I Have Rights” was organized as well. The new nomination will find its permanent place in the list of festival nominations. One of the most significant events of the festival was the charity act called “You are not Alone… We will Win Together” for children with cardiovascular and oncological diseases. MD, Professor, Deputy Director of the Federal Research and Clinical Centre of Pediatric Hematology, Oncology and Immunology Aleksey Maschan arrived in Yerevan to carry out medical examination for children at one of the specialized medical centers of Yerevan. One of the children was given a unique opportunity to continue her treatment on charitable basis in Moscow.
