In 2009, on October 15-19, in Yerevan took place 5th International Film Festival for Children and Youth organized by Armenian “Rolan Bykov” Foundation with the support of the President of RA and Ministry of Culture of RA. Broadening its borders and geography, this year festival hosted many filmmakers from different countries: Art Director of children’s comic magazine “Yeralash” Boris Grachevskiy (Russia), director, winner of 9 National Awards Talkad Nagabharana (India), director, actor, RF Honored Artist Nikolay Denisov (Russia), director of “PLATFORMA” company, organizer of “PLATFORMA VIDEO” International Film Festival Vassilis Karamitsanis (Greece),  RF Honored Art Worker, film critic, professor Armen Medvedev (Russia), director of “Televeziri” Studio Nodar Begiashvili (Georgia), journalist, director Alexander Gordon (Russia), President of “Ale Kino” International Film Festival Jerzy Moszkowicz (Poland), director, animator, President of “Krok” International Animation Festival Eduard Nazarov (Russia) and others.

54 films from 25 countries were included in the festival program.

One of the most significant events in the frames of the festival took place in Gyumry: a memorial was opened and a street was named after the famous Armenian director Edmond Keosayan. All the festival guests, People’s Artist of Armenia Laura Gevorgyan (Edmond Keosayan’s wife), producer David Keosayan (Edmond Keosayan’s son) and his daughter Laura Keosayan (actress) were present at the ceremony.

Participants of the festival were hosted by the orphanage “Trchunyan Tun” in Gyumri where they got acquainted with the everyday life of the children, their hobbies, handmade works and had a supper with them.

In the frames of the festival master classes, creative meetings, press conferences premiere screenings, meetings at schools, music schools and at TV companies were carried out.

Premiere screenings of the films “Ward No.6” by director, scriptwriter, head of “Mosfilm” Cinema Concern Karen Shahnazarov and “Roof” by Art Director of children’s comic magazine “Yeralash” Boris Grachevskiy were organized.

After the Yerevan stage the festival continued in the regions of RA (5 regions) for 40 days. The festival was hosted in Kajaran, Alaverdi, Byureghavan, Gavar and Gyumri, where the best award winning films were screened.
